  1. “We cannot simply depend on the machines that only repeat the same task over and over again,” project lead Mitsuru Kawai told Bloomberg. “To be the master of the machine, you have to have the knowledge and the skills to teach the machine.” Agreed. In order to be a leader of a group, like the professor of a class, for example, you have to have the knowledge to teach or share with others. It is in my opinion that one gains the knowledge to teach by doing and through personal life experiences. However, I do not agree with the claim that “we cannot depend on machines that repeat the same task over again” because we can, and we do. What this article is getting at is that depending on machines is efficient but not progressive; depending on machines stifles advancement because machines cannot bring new ideas to the table the way humans can. Interestingly, the article ends advocating for a new production process that involves people who can work with machines, and I wonder what that would look like given the ending of “I Robot.” In the case of Toyota, it is clear we have advanced as humans beyond our natural barbaric context, but is it up to humans or robots to produce new contexts?
